Text QR code generator
Brief Functionality Description:
Our QR code generation service offers the ability to create two types of QR codes from text:
-
Free Static Text QR Code
You can encode a combination of text and characters (up to 4296 units).
With this type of QR code, the end user can scan it using a smartphone camera and read the text either in a notepad application or in a browser.
No internet connection is required. -
Dynamic Text QR Code
You can convert your static QR code into a dynamic QR code.
This type of QR code allows the end user to scan it with a smartphone camera and read the text in a browser.
An internet connection is required for this.
Detailed Functionality Description:
-
Free Static Text QR Code
- Allows you to encode the text you enter into a QR code.
- The data in this QR code can be scanned by a phone camera or a laser scanner.
- No internet connection is needed.
- After generation, this type of QR code is no longer linked to our service and can work indefinitely.
- Generating a static text QR code in our Qroot.app service is free.
- As you input text, it is encoded into a QR code in real time.
- You can then download it, save it to your dashboard, or print it.
- Static QR codes are suitable for short text descriptions or product codes.
-
Dynamic Text QR Code
- Significantly expands the capabilities of a static text QR code by turning it into a dynamic text QR code.
- To do this, once you have generated a static QR code, check the box “Make a text online form.”
- A short internet link will then be created, allowing you to open an online form and view your text in a browser.
- By default, the text will be editable by anyone who has this link.
- If you uncheck the “Allow editing” field during creation, the text will be read-only.
- You can change this setting later in your personal dashboard.
- Dynamic text QR codes with an online form greatly extend the functionality of static text QR codes.
Advantages of a Dynamic Text QR Code:
- Very compact: only 21 blocks (squares).
- Capable of storing large amounts of text without sacrificing readability by a smartphone camera.
- The text can be edited at any time without needing to reprint the QR code.
- You can get scan statistics.
- There are many use scenarios for the editable form feature.
Instructions for Creating a QR Code from Text:
- Enter the text by one of the following methods:
- Using the keyboard
- From the clipboard
- By using your web camera for text recognition
- Keep in mind that the length cannot exceed 4296 characters for alphanumeric text.
- Static QR codes do not support text formatting.
- If your text is large, the static QR code will contain many small squares (blocks). If you print it very small (for example, 2×2 cm), a smartphone camera might not be able to scan it.
- If there are any links in the text, for instance, when scanned with an iPhone’s camera, it may skip the rest of the text and only display the link.
To make your static text QR code dynamic:
- Check the box “Make a text online form.”
- After this, a short online link leading to a web form containing your text will be created.
- That link is written into your QR code.
- Essentially, your static text QR code becomes a dynamic QR code with a web address.
- Next, you need to save this QR code to your dashboard; otherwise, it will be deactivated after 24 hours.
- Assign a name to the QR code so it is easier to identify later among others.
- After saving to your dashboard, you can download or print it.
Before printing or publishing the QR code, it’s best to test if it scans correctly on different smartphones, ideally on both Android and iOS.
